29th Sunday in Ordinary Time

We are in Year C.
Liturgical Color: Green

Readings:

1R: Exodus 17:8-13. The Israelites were at war with Amalek. While Moses continues to hold up his hand, Israel wins. When his hands get lowered, Amalek prevails. When Moses got weary and tired, Aaron and Hur held up Moses’ hands. Joshua who was battling with the Amaleks led the Israelites to victory.

RP: 120 or 121 Our help is in the Name of the Lord who made heaven and earth.

2R: 2 Timothy 3:14-4:2 Continue what you have learned…be urgent in season and out of season…be unfailing in patience and in teaching.

G: Luke 18:1-8 is about the parable of the persistent widow. God will see to it that justice is speedily done for those who persist in praying to God.

Important Ideas: Persistence in prayer, dedication to it, prayer itself (i.e., imploring God always and forever without being discouraged), steadfastness in the face of trials, patience in waiting for God's answer, trust that things will take place "in God's time", and Month of the Rosary
