Our first album, launched as a cassette in 1998 and as a CD (with six additional tracks) in 2000. The album contains a mix of liturgical and inspirational songs such as "One Thing I Ask", "Umawit Kayo", "Ama Namin", "Now We Remain", "Pananatili", and the original recording of "Panunumpa" (later popularized by Carol Banawa) -- all with the prayerful, deeply personal sound that has become Hangad's trademark.

Among our early musical inspirations were the innovative arrangements of First Call (which recorded the "An Evening in December" Christmas a capella series) and A Capella Praise (which recorded innovative a capella versions of songs such as "God Will Make a Way" and "Give Thanks"). With our second album, we celebrated our favorite pieces of Jesuit music such as Fr Eddie Hontiveros SJ's "Magnificat" and Fr Manoling Francisco SJ's "Pilgrim's Theme", renewing and refreshing them with new a capella arrangements.

Hangad's first Christmas album, which aims to recenter our Christmases on Christ.

Lent, Holy Week, and Easter have always been special to us because we have been singing at the Ateneo Holy Week Triduum every year since 1996. Our fourth album celebrates these season, the height of the liturgical year and the center of our faith, with reflections, prayers, and even a new set of contemporary-sounding Mass responses.

In 2005, we were approached by a volunteer of Ang Arko Ng Pilipinas, an NGO that cares for underprivileged people with mental and psychological disabilities. This volunteer had written a Christmas song inspired by one of Arko's wards, an individual with autism who got so scared by the noises around Manila every holiday season that he had to be taken to the province where he could enjoy the peace. This volunteer had never heard of Hangad or heard our songs, but he found us online and wrote to us, asking if we could record this song to help raise funds for Arko. We listened to the song and were immediately struck by it. In December that same year, we performed "Raymond's Lullaby" for the first time; and the next year, we recorded and released "A Wish for Christmas", a Christmas card with CD including "Raymond's Lullaby" and a few other Christmas favorites. Today, a part of every purchase of "A Wish for Christmas"  is donated to Ang Arko ng Pilipinas, in fulfillment of this volunteer's dream.

Whether it’s a gasp at the sight of a sunrise, a whispered “thank you” after getting through a difficult task, or a sign of the cross at the start of a challenge—prayer, at its essence, is a one-on-one conversation with God. A secret, sacred time, between Him and you.
From our origin as a retreat choir in 1991, and through each album we have released and concert we have performed, we in Hangad have been guiding and accompanying people’s individual conversations with God. In “This Time With You”, we go deep into the heart of prayer as conversation—in the many ways we pray, the many things we pray for, and the many ways He responds.
