Readings:

1R: Exodus 17:8-13. The Israelites were at war with Amalek. While Moses continues to hold up his hand, Israel wins. When his hands get lowered, Amalek prevails. When Moses got weary and tired, Aaron and Hur held up Moses’ hands. Joshua who was battling with the Amaleks led the Israelites to victory.

RP: 120 or 121 Our help is in the Name of the Lord who made heaven and earth. 

2R: 2 Timothy 3:14-4:2 Continue what you have learned…be urgent in season and out of season…be unfailing in patience and in teaching.

G: Luke 18:1-8 is about the parable of the persistent widow. God will see to it that justice is speedily done for those who persist in praying to God.

Readings:

1R: Habakkuk 1:2-3; 2:2-4. It is asked why the Lord seems to be deaf to our cries for help. The Lord replies, “It may seem slow, but it’s soon.” God’s help will soon come. The righteous shall live by His faith.

RP: 94 or 95 If today you hear His voice, harden not your hearts. 

2R: 2 Timothy 1:6-8, 13-14. God did not gift us shyness. God gave us power, love, self-control. Do not be ashamed of suffering for the Gospel. Be strong in faith and love. Guard the truth entrusted to you by the Holy Spirit. 

G: Luke 17:5-10 is about 

1. Lord, increase our faith
2. If you have faith the size of a mustard seed…
3. The attitude of a servant. Masters don’t just invite servants to their dining table. Even if the servant is tired, he has to wait while his master dines.

Heaven is a gift, not a salary. We don’t earn grace. It is given to us freely by God not because we are good but because He is good. So let’s be humble, and make our faith ever stronger. All goodness belongs to God. Let us not think of ourselves as righteous to the point that we’ve earned honor. Please be reminded it's also month of the Holy Rosary.
