First Reading:

Ezekiel 33:7-9.

Ezekiel is appointed as a watchman. He should instruct people, and correct them, lest they be punished, or worse, executed. If Ezekiel does not correct them, and that erring person is executed, Ezekiel would be held responsible for the death. If he had corrected the erring person, Ezekiel is saved from the responsibility.
