4th Sunday of Advent - Year A - December 21, 2025

The 4th Sunday of Advent Year A continues a time of waiting and hope. The readings show God’s promise, Jesus’ coming, and our call to trust.

• God’s Promise: God promises a sign through Isaiah, showing He is with His people. Jesus’ birth is the fulfillment of that promise.
• Faith and Trust: Ahaz struggles to trust God, but Joseph listens and obeys. Faith means believing even when we do not fully understand.
• Jesus as Emmanuel: The name Emmanuel means “God is with us.” Jesus comes to be close to His people and bring them hope.
• Obedience to God: Joseph follows God’s message despite fear and uncertainty. Trusting God often requires action, even when it is hard.
• God’s Plan for Salvation: Paul reminds the Romans that Jesus’ coming is part of God’s plan. Salvation is a gift meant for all people.
• Hope in Waiting: Advent is a time of waiting for Jesus. The readings remind us that God’s plan unfolds in His time.

Advent invites people to prepare for Jesus with faith and hope. The 4th Sunday of Advent Year A reminds us that God keeps His promises.

Gaudete Sunday, the 3rd Sunday of Advent Year A, is a time of joyful anticipation. The readings focus on hope, patience, and recognizing God’s presence among us.

• Joy in God’s Promise: The readings show that God’s promise brings joy. Isaiah speaks of the desert blooming, and Jesus points to His works as signs of God’s presence.

• Patience in Waiting: James calls for patience as we wait for the Lord. Like a farmer waiting for crops, we must trust that God’s timing is perfect.

• Hope for Healing: Isaiah promises healing for the blind, the deaf, and the lame. Jesus’ miracles in the Gospel show that He fulfills this promise.

• The Lord is Near: The nearness of God brings hope. Jesus reminds John’s disciples that He is the one they are waiting for.

• Signs of the Messiah: Jesus points to His works as signs of the Messiah. The miracles He performs fulfill the prophecies in Isaiah.

• First Reading – Isaiah 35:1-6A, 10: The desert will bloom and rejoice. God will strengthen the weak and bring justice. The blind will see, the deaf will hear, and the saved will enter Zion with joy.

• The Lord is faithful, brings justice, feeds the hungry, frees captives, and gives sight to the blind. He supports the fatherless and widows, and reigns forever.

• Second Reading – James 5:7-10: Be patient for the Lord’s coming, like a farmer waiting for crops. Strengthen your hearts, avoid complaining, and follow the example of patient prophets.

• Gospel – Matthew 11:2-11: John the Baptist sent his disciples to ask Jesus if he was the one to come. Jesus affirmed his works. He praised John as the greatest prophet, yet less than the least in heaven.

2nd Sunday of Advent - Year A - December 7, 2025

The 2nd Sunday of Advent Year C calls us to prepare for the coming of the Lord. The readings guide us to reflect on God’s promises and our own spiritual readiness.

• Preparation for the Lord: John the Baptist prepares the way for Jesus. We are called to make our hearts ready for Christ’s coming.
• God’s Promise of Salvation: Baruch speaks of God bringing His people back to Him. This reminds us that God always keeps His promises of salvation.
• Call to Repentance: John the Baptist calls people to repent and be baptized. Repentance helps us clear the way for Jesus in our lives.
• Joyful Expectation: Paul expresses joy in the Philippians’ faith and growth. Advent is a time of joyful waiting for Jesus.
• Unity in Christ: Paul prays for the Philippians to grow in love and knowledge. We are encouraged to grow together in faith and love.
• God’s Guidance: Baruch speaks of God leading His people with joy. God’s guidance is with us as we journey in faith.

These themes help us focus on the true meaning of Advent. As we prepare for Christmas, we are reminded of God’s love and our need for spiritual readiness.

Advent is about, among others, anticipation for Christ’s coming. Kung baga ang lakas ng pasok/dating nito. Parang the film outfit would be creating a teaser dahel may ilo-launch na big budget film! • First Reading – Baruch 5:1-9: Jerusalem, take off your mourning and wear God’s eternal glory. God will reveal your splendor to the world, gather your children, and lead Israel with joy, mercy, and justice.
• Responsorial Psalm – Psalm 126; Justice shall flourish in his time, and fullness of peace for ever.
• When the Lord restored Zion, we were overjoyed. Nations acknowledged God’s great deeds for us. We pray for renewed fortunes and rejoice, knowing that sorrow will turn to joy.
• Second Reading – Philippians 1:4-6, 8-11: I joyfully pray for you, confident that God will complete His work in you. I pray your love grows in knowledge, so you can discern what is best and be righteous in Christ.
• Gospel – Luke 3:1-6: During Tiberius Caesar’s reign, God’s word came to John in the desert. He preached repentance and forgiveness, fulfilling Isaiah’s prophecy to prepare the way for the Lord and reveal God’s salvation.
