8th Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year C - March 2, 2025

On the 8th Sunday in Ordinary Time Year C, the readings focus on important lessons about how we speak, act, and live as Christians. These themes help us reflect on our daily actions and their alignment with our faith.

  • The Fruit of Words: Sirach 27:4-7 reminds us that our words reveal our true selves. Good words reflect a good heart.
  • Victory Over Death: 1 Corinthians 15:54-58 talks about the triumph over death through Jesus Christ. It gives us hope and courage to stand firm in our faith.
  • Blind Leading the Blind: In Luke 6:39, Jesus warns about the dangers of following blind guides. We must seek true wisdom and guidance in our leaders.
  • Removing the Beam: Luke 6:41-42 teaches us to look at our own faults before judging others. Self-examination leads to true humility.
  • Good and Bad Fruit: Luke 6:43-45 compares people to trees, saying that good trees bear good fruit. Our actions and words should show our good hearts.
  • Steadfast Labor: 1 Corinthians 15:58 encourages us to work hard in the Lord’s service. Our efforts are never in vain when done for God’s glory.

Reflecting on these themes helps us grow in our faith and live better Christian lives. By aligning our words, actions, and hearts with these lessons, we can follow Christ more closely.

  • Witnessing to Faith: Paul reminds the Corinthians of the gospel he preached. This shows the importance of sharing our faith with others.
  • God’s Grace: Paul speaks of God’s grace working in him. This reminds us that any good we do is by God’s help.

Epiphany of the Lord - Year C - January 5, 2025

Epiphany is celebrated on the Sunday between January 2 and January 8. The feast of the Epiphany of Our Lord commemorates when Jesus Christ was revealed as the Messiah. The Gospel of Matthew recounts that three wise men from the East visited our savior after his birth and acknowledged him with gifts representing kingship, priesthood, and death.

The Feast of the Epiphany highlights key themes in the story of Jesus and the visit of the Magi. These themes help us understand the importance of Jesus’ birth and His mission for all people.

  • Jesus as Light: Jesus is the light that shines in the darkness. He guides all people to God.
  • Universal Mission: Jesus came for all nations and people. His salvation is not limited to one group.
  • Fulfillment of Prophecy: Isaiah’s prophecy about light and gifts is fulfilled in Jesus. The gifts of the Magi show this connection.
  • Humility and Kingship: Jesus is a humble king. He shows true power through love and gentleness.
  • Inclusiveness: Paul teaches that both Jews and Gentiles share in Jesus’ promises. The Epiphany shows that everyone is included in God’s plan.
  • Guidance of the Star: The star leads the Magi to Jesus. This shows God’s guidance to all who seek Him.
  • Gift-Giving: The Magi bring gifts to honor Jesus. This shows recognition of His kingship and divinity.
  • Contrast with Herod: Herod’s fear and violence contrast with Jesus’ humble birth. This shows the difference between earthly and heavenly kingship.

These themes remind us of the rich meaning of the Feast of the Epiphany. They invite us to reflect on Jesus’ mission and our role in spreading His light.

  • God’s wisdom and justice in the king will usher in an era of fairness, peace, and expansive dominion, earning tributes from afar and devotion from all nations.

  • Gospel – Matthew 2:1-12: Magi from the east, guided by a star, sought the newborn King of the Jews in Jerusalem, unsettling King Herod and the city. Informed by religious leaders about the prophesied birth in Bethlehem, Herod deceitfully instructed the magi to report back after finding the child. Christ the King Sunday - Year B - November 24, 2024

Thanks for your love and support.

The Solemnity of Christ the King Year B reminds us of the kingship of Jesus and His authority over all. This feast invites us to reflect on Jesus’ role as our leader and savior. These are our theme for you to consider also what songs you need to add to your line-up:

  • Jesus as King: Jesus is the King who has all power and authority, as shown in Daniel 7:13-14. He rules over all nations and people forever.
  • Eternal Kingdom: Jesus’ kingdom is eternal, unlike earthly kingdoms. Revelation 1:5-8 tells us His rule will never end.
  • Truth of Jesus: Jesus came to bear witness to the truth, as He says in John 18:33B-37. His truth guides us and sets us free.
  • Jesus’ Sacrifice: Jesus, the faithful witness, loves us and freed us from sin by His blood (Revelation 1:5). His sacrifice shows His kingship through service.
  • Hope in Christ: The readings give us hope in Christ’s ultimate victory. His kingdom brings peace and justice.
  • Universal Reign: Jesus’ reign is for everyone, as seen in Daniel 7:14. His kingdom includes all people, nations, and languages.
  • Christ’s Witness: Jesus’ role as a witness to the truth is central in John 18:37. This shows His authority and purpose.
Reflecting on these themes helps us understand Jesus’ kingship and its importance in our lives. The Solemnity of Christ the King Year B calls us to recognize and honor Jesus as our King and Savior.

30th Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year B - October 27, 2024

  • Call to Repentance: Jeremiah calls the people to return to God. God wants to restore and forgive.
  • Jesus’ Compassion: Jesus stops to help Bartimaeus despite the crowd. His mercy is shown in action.
  • Trust in God: Bartimaeus trusts Jesus completely. He believes Jesus can heal him.
  • Joyful Return: Jeremiah talks about a joyful return to the Promised Land. God’s people find joy in His promises.

(Before singing any Marian Song as recessional, ask the permission of your Parish Priest if ok lang ba to use it. However, it's important to note:

·       No Hard and Fast Rule: There's no official prohibition against singing Marian hymns during the recessional. The choice of music is often left to the discretion of the priest and the parish music director.
·       Honoring Mary: Singing Marian hymns is a way of honoring the Blessed Virgin Mary, who is revered as the Mother of God in the Catholic Church. Her role in salvation history is significant, and many Catholics find solace and inspiration in her intercession.

Ultimately, the decision of what music to sing during the recessional is a matter of pastoral judgment and should be guided by a desire to enhance the liturgical celebration and promote the spiritual growth of the congregation.)
