4th Sunday of Easter (Good Shepherd Sunday) - Year A - April 26, 2026

Thanks for visiting us. We are hoping you can help us sustain this blog.

The 4th Sunday of Easter Year A, known as Good Shepherd Sunday, highlights Jesus as the Good Shepherd who cares for His flock. The readings emphasize the themes of guidance, protection, and the call to follow Christ.

  • Jesus as the Good Shepherd: Jesus calls Himself the Good Shepherd who knows His sheep and lays down His life for them. This image shows His deep care and willingness to sacrifice for us.
  • Repentance and Baptism: In Acts, Peter calls for repentance and baptism in the name of Jesus. This theme emphasizes turning away from sin and beginning a new life in Christ.
  • Following Christ’s Example: Peter’s letter urges us to follow Christ’s example of suffering patiently. This teaches us to endure hardships with trust in God.
  • Hearing God’s Voice: Jesus says His sheep hear His voice and follow Him. This highlights the importance of listening to Jesus and discerning His guidance in our lives.
  • New Life in Christ: Peter speaks of dying to sin and living for righteousness. This theme stresses the new life we receive through Christ’s sacrifice and resurrection.
  • Conversion and Salvation: Acts recounts the conversion of many who heard Peter’s message. This shows the power of the Gospel to change hearts and bring salvation.

Divine Mercy Sunday - Year A - April 12, 2026

Sorry if ngayon lang uli nakapagpost. Holy Week kasi, walang pasok at wala ring allowance. Still nakikigamit pa rin ng gadget.

Divine Mercy Sunday Year A celebrates God’s mercy and the hope we receive through Christ’s resurrection. The readings highlight forgiveness, faith, and the joy of new life in Christ.

  • God’s Mercy and Forgiveness: Jesus gives His disciples the power to forgive sins, showing God’s endless mercy. This gift invites us to seek forgiveness and extend mercy to others.
  • Faith Amid Doubt: Thomas doubts the resurrection until he sees Jesus’ wounds. His journey shows that faith can grow through questions and honest seeking.
  • Peace Through Christ: Jesus greets His disciples with peace, calming their fear. His presence brings peace that conquers fear and doubt.
  • The Power of Community: The early Christians prayed, shared resources, and grew together in faith. This shows the importance of supporting each other in living out the Gospel.
  • Hope Through Resurrection: Christ’s resurrection gives us a living hope and an eternal inheritance. This hope sustains us, even through trials and challenges.
  • Joy in Belief: Although we cannot see Jesus, faith brings joy and purpose. Believing without seeing is blessed, as Jesus teaches Thomas.

Divine Mercy Sunday Year A invites us to embrace God’s mercy and live in hope and faith. It calls us to be merciful, to believe with joy, and to support each other as a community of believers.

  • Gospel – John 20:19-31: In a locked room, the resurrected Jesus appeared to his disciples, offering peace and showing his wounds, which brought them joy. He empowered them with the Holy Spirit and the authority to forgive sins. Thomas, absent initially, doubted their testimony. Later, Jesus appeared again, inviting Thomas to touch his wounds, leading to Thomas’ declaration of faith. Jesus blessed future believers who wouldn’t see yet believe. These events were recorded to affirm faith in Jesus as the Christ.

4th Sunday of Lent (Laetare Sunday)- Year A - March 15, 2026

The 4th Sunday of Lent Year A invites us to reflect on seeing with the eyes of faith. The readings show how God looks at the heart, brings light to darkness, and heals spiritual blindness.

  • Seeing as God Sees: God chooses David because of his heart, not his appearance. This reminds us to value inner goodness and to look beyond outward appearances.
  • Light and Darkness: Believers are called to live as children of light. This means rejecting sin and letting Christ’s light guide our actions.
  • Spiritual Blindness and Sight: Jesus heals the man born blind, revealing spiritual blindness in those who refuse to believe. This shows the importance of faith and openness to God’s truth.
  • Faith and Conversion: The blind man’s journey from physical healing to faith in Jesus shows a deep conversion. This challenges us to grow in faith and recognize Jesus as the Son of God.
  • God’s Choice and Calling: God chooses David, the unlikely shepherd, to be king. This shows that God often chooses the humble and overlooked to fulfill His plans.
  • Courage to Witness: The healed man boldly defends Jesus before the Pharisees. His courage inspires us to stand up for our faith, even when challenged.

The 4th Sunday of Lent Year A challenges us to open our hearts to God’s light and see with faith. It calls us to grow in trust, courage, and love for Christ.

  • Responsorial Psalm – Psalm 23: If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
  • The Lord is a faithful and loving shepherd who provides for and protects his sheep. The psalmist describes the Lord’s provision of green pastures and still waters, his guidance through dark valleys, and his comforting presence, and concludes by affirming his confidence in the Lord’s goodness and mercy throughout his life.
  • Second Reading – Ephesians 5:8-14: Believers should live as children of light, putting aside the works of darkness and walking in the ways of righteousness. The passage emphasizes the importance of exposing and reproving evil deeds, and notes that everything that is exposed by the light becomes visible and that Christ will shine on those who follow him.
  • Gospel – John 9:1-41: Jesus heals a man who was born blind, but the Pharisees are skeptical and investigate the miracle. They interrogate the man and his parents, and ultimately cast the man out for declaring his belief in Jesus as the Son of God.

The 1st Sunday of Lent Year A invites reflection on human weakness and God’s saving grace. It shows the struggle with temptation and the hope of new life through Jesus.
