4th Sunday of Lent - Year C - March 30, 2025

Thank you very much for the support and visit. We are very sorry sometimes if we cannot update this blog as we encounter problems also in time and finances. Hoping for your understanding.

The 4th Sunday in Ordinary Time Year C features readings that highlight God’s call, the power of love, and the challenges of following Jesus. These themes remind us of the courage needed to live out our faith and the importance of love in our Christian journey.

  • God’s Call: In the first reading, God calls Jeremiah before his birth. This reminds us that God has a purpose for each of us from the beginning.
  • Courage in the Face of Opposition: Jeremiah is warned that he will face resistance. This theme teaches us to stand firm in our faith, even when others oppose us.
  • The Greatest Gift is Love: The second reading from Corinthians emphasizes love as the greatest gift. It encourages us to prioritize love in all our actions and relationships.
  • The Endurance of Love: St. Paul describes love as patient and kind. This theme underscores the importance of loving others, even when it is difficult.
  • Rejection of Jesus: The Gospel shows Jesus being rejected in his hometown. This teaches us that following Jesus may lead to rejection, but we must stay true to our faith.
  • Prophets Without Honor: Jesus points out that prophets are often not accepted in their own country. This reminds us that sometimes those closest to us may not understand our faith journey.
  • Faithfulness Despite Challenges: All three readings highlight the importance of being faithful. Whether called to speak difficult truths or love others, we must remain steadfast in our faith.

The 4th Sunday in Ordinary Time Year C encourages us to embrace God’s call and love others deeply. It also reminds us that faith can be challenging but is worth the effort. We are called to live out our faith with courage and love, even in difficult times.

Readings:

  • First Reading – Jeremiah 1:4-5, 17-19: God declares He knew and chose His prophet before birth, commanding him to speak boldly. Despite opposition, God promises strength and protection, ensuring victory through His presence.
  • Responsorial Psalm – Psalm 71: Taste and see the goodness of the Lord.

I seek refuge in the Lord, asking for rescue and deliverance, trusting Him as my fortress and rock since youth, and vowing to proclaim His justice and salvation.

  • Second Reading – 1 Corinthians 12:31-13:13: Though spiritual gifts are important, love is superior. Without love, even great abilities are meaningless. Love is patient, kind, and enduring. It outlasts all gifts, and among faith, hope, and love, it is the greatest.
  • Gospel – Luke 4:21-30: In a synagogue, Jesus announced the fulfillment of Scripture, astonishing the audience with his eloquence. They recognized him as Joseph’s son. Jesus anticipated their skepticism and referenced Elijah and Elisha, who ministered to non-Israelites, illustrating a prophet’s rejection at home. This incited anger, leading to an attempt to harm him, but he left unscathed.

3rd Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year C - March 23, 2025

Pasensya na po at nahuli, nabusy lang po sa school.

The 3rd Sunday of Lent Year C helps us reflect on God’s call, repentance, and growth. The readings from Exodus, Corinthians, and Luke guide us to understand our faith journey better.

  • God’s Call to Moses: In Exodus, God calls Moses from the burning bush. This shows that God reaches out to guide and lead His people.
  • God’s Promise of Freedom: God promises to free the Israelites from slavery in Egypt. This reminds us that God is always working to free us from our own sins and struggles.
  • Warnings Against Idolatry: In Corinthians, Paul warns against idol worship and turning away from God. This teaches us to stay faithful and avoid things that take us away from God.
  • Importance of Repentance: Jesus in Luke speaks about the need to repent. He warns that without repentance, we will perish, showing the importance of turning back to God.
  • God’s Patience: The parable of the fig tree in Luke highlights God’s patience. He gives us time to change and grow in faith, but we must respond.
  • Fruitfulness in Faith: The fig tree parable also teaches about bearing fruit. We are called to live fruitful lives, showing our faith through actions.
  • God’s Presence in Hard Times: The readings remind us that God is with us in difficult times. Like He was with the Israelites, He supports and guides us through our challenges.
  • Community and Accountability: Paul speaks to the Corinthians about learning from their ancestors’ mistakes. This shows the importance of community and holding each other accountable in our faith.

1st Sunday of Lent - Year C - March 9, 2025

Lent is a short season of six weeks intended to prepare us for the great celebrations of Easter. Lent comes from the old Anglo-Saxon and Old German words for spring marked by days that lengthen. The idea of penitence and fasting during Lent may have begun in earlier, hungrier times as a means of spiritualizing real shortages of food at this time of year.

The 1st Sunday of Lent Year C begins our journey through Lent. This is a time to reflect on our faith and grow closer to God.
  • Faith and Confession: Romans 10:9-10 emphasizes the importance of confessing our faith in Jesus. This theme reminds us to openly profess our belief in Christ during Lent.
  • Temptation and Resistance: In Luke 4:1-13, Jesus is tempted by the devil but resists. This teaches us to stand strong against temptations in our lives.
  • God’s Help in Trials: Jesus’ time in the desert shows that God is with us in our struggles. We can rely on God’s help when we face challenges.

8th Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year C - March 2, 2025

On the 8th Sunday in Ordinary Time Year C, the readings focus on important lessons about how we speak, act, and live as Christians. These themes help us reflect on our daily actions and their alignment with our faith.

  • The Fruit of Words: Sirach 27:4-7 reminds us that our words reveal our true selves. Good words reflect a good heart.
  • Victory Over Death: 1 Corinthians 15:54-58 talks about the triumph over death through Jesus Christ. It gives us hope and courage to stand firm in our faith.
  • Blind Leading the Blind: In Luke 6:39, Jesus warns about the dangers of following blind guides. We must seek true wisdom and guidance in our leaders.
  • Removing the Beam: Luke 6:41-42 teaches us to look at our own faults before judging others. Self-examination leads to true humility.
  • Good and Bad Fruit: Luke 6:43-45 compares people to trees, saying that good trees bear good fruit. Our actions and words should show our good hearts.
  • Steadfast Labor: 1 Corinthians 15:58 encourages us to work hard in the Lord’s service. Our efforts are never in vain when done for God’s glory.

  • Love your enemies: Jesus tells us to love our enemies and do good to those who hate us (Luke 6:27-28). This shows the radical love we are called to have.
  • Forgive and be forgiven: Jesus teaches us to forgive others and we will be forgiven (Luke 6:37). Forgiveness is a key part of Christian living.
  • Generosity in giving: Jesus encourages us to give without expecting anything in return (Luke 6:30, 38). This generosity reflects God’s love for us.
  • Image of the heavenly man: Paul explains that we are to bear the image of Christ, the heavenly man (1 Corinthians 15:45-49). We are called to live like Christ.

6th Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year C - February 16, 2025

Thank you po sa mga naghintay. Pasensya na ulit at kung last week lang ulit kami nakabalik dahil nagkaproblema sa budget. Alam n’yo estudyante pa.

The 6th Sunday in Ordinary Time Year C focuses on themes of trust, resurrection, and true happiness. The readings highlight the importance of relying on God and the hope found in Jesus Christ’s resurrection.
  • Trust in God: Jeremiah warns against trusting in human strength and calls for trust in God. True happiness comes from relying on God, not on ourselves.
  • Blessings and Curses: Jeremiah speaks about the blessings for those who trust in God and the curses for those who trust in humans. These verses remind us to seek blessings through faith in God.
  • Resurrection Hope: In 1 Corinthians, Paul defends the resurrection of Jesus. He explains that our faith depends on the truth of Jesus rising from the dead.
  • Eternal Life: Paul emphasizes that without resurrection, our faith is useless. The resurrection gives us hope for eternal life with Jesus.
  • True Happiness: In Luke, Jesus teaches about the blessings of the poor and hungry. He contrasts their future joy with the sorrow of the rich and satisfied.
  • Warnings of Woe: Jesus warns those who are rich, full, and laughing now. Their comfort is temporary, and they need to seek true happiness in God.
The readings for the 6th Sunday in Ordinary Time Year C encourage us to trust in God and find hope in Jesus’ resurrection. They remind us that true happiness is found in faith and reliance on God, not in worldly things. Those who avoid the wicked and delight in God’s law are blessed and prosper. The wicked are like chaff blown away by the wind. God watches over the righteous.
  • Second Reading – 1 Corinthians 15:12, 16-20: If Christ is not raised, our faith is useless and we remain in sin. But Christ is risen, the first of those who have died.
  • Gospel – Luke 6:17, 20-26: Jesus blesses the poor, hungry, and sorrowful, promising them future joy and rewards in heaven. He warns the rich, well-fed, and joyful of future sorrow, highlighting how ancestors treated true and false prophets.
