Feast of the Holy Family (Sagrada Familia) - Year C - December 29, 2024

Pwede pa pong humabol sa may pamasko 😊

You can create your own line-up of songs by the theme of our readings this Sunday below. Example what are the songs that talks about Respect for Parents or compassion and kindness? You can add those in your line-up. You don’t need to follow everything that we recommend here. We are not that updated of the current songs of our church. Goodluck po sa mga susubok gumawa ng kanilang line-up. Kaya yan!

The Feast of the Holy Family Year C celebrates the family of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph. The readings for this feast highlight the importance of family and the virtues that sustain it. The theme are as follows:

  • Respect for Parents: Sirach 3:2-6 emphasizes honoring and respecting parents. This respect strengthens family bonds and reflects God’s commandment.
  • Compassion and Kindness: Colossians 3:12-13 calls for compassion, kindness, humility, and patience. These virtues help maintain harmony and love within the family.
  • Forgiveness: Colossians 3:13 urges families to forgive one another. Forgiveness heals relationships and brings peace to the household.
  • Love and Unity: Colossians 3:14 speaks about love as the bond of perfection. Love holds the family together and fosters unity.
  • Teaching and Admonishing: Colossians 3:16 encourages teaching and admonishing one another with wisdom. Sharing wisdom and guiding each other helps the family grow in faith and virtue.
  • Obedience and Understanding: Luke 2:51 shows Jesus being obedient to Mary and Joseph. Obedience and understanding in the family build trust and respect among members.

  • Patience and Gentleness: Colossians 3:21 warns fathers not to provoke their children. Patience and gentleness from parents foster a supportive and loving environment.
  • Prayer and Worship: Luke 2:41-52 describes the Holy Family going to Jerusalem for the Passover. Regular prayer and worship together strengthen the family’s relationship with God.

Wednesday, 25 December
Mass during the Day
For your convenience, for the most part, I just fixed the dates and revised some details. This is almost the same as in previous years.
Important Ideas: God the Father and God the Son; the Word of God and the Son of God is/are one and the same

  • First Reading – Isaiah 52:7-10: The herald of good news brings peace and salvation, announcing to Zion, “Your God is King!” Sentinels cry out joyfully, witnessing the Lord’s restoration of Zion, and Jerusalem rejoices in God’s comforting redemption.
  • Responsorial Psalm – Psalm 98: A new song celebrates the Lord’s marvelous actions and victory. His salvation and justice are revealed to all nations, demonstrating His faithfulness to Israel and the world.
  • Second Reading – Hebrews 1:1-6: God, who once spoke through prophets, now speaks through His Son, the heir of all and creator of the universe, who purifies from sins and is exalted above the angels.
  • Gospel – John 1:1-18 or John 1:1-5, 9-14: In the beginning, the Word was with God and was God. Through Him, all things were made, and He brought life and light to humanity. John the Baptist testified about this light. The true light, Jesus, entered the world He created, unrecognized by many. The Word became flesh, revealing God’s glory, full of grace and truth, and through Jesus, grace and truth were fully manifested.
