30th Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year A - October 29, 2023

We are very sorry, brothers and sisters, for not posting last week because we were busy with activities and exams. We ran out of prepaid credits for our pocket wifi. But now, here we are again, continuing with this ministry.

The readings for the 30th Sunday in Ordinary Time Year A are a call to love. The first reading tells how we are to treat other people, especially the poor, oppressed, and marginalized. The second reading reminds us that how we live should show that we are followers of Jesus. And in the gospel Jesus gives us the Great Commandment and the Golden Rule.

Our theme this week:
  • Greatest Commandments: Asked about the greatest commandment, Jesus sums up the law with love for God and neighbor. This theme focuses on the core ethical guidelines in religious practice.
  • Test of Understanding: The Pharisees test Jesus, making this another episode where they try to entrap him. The theme here is the ongoing tension and challenges posed by religious authorities.
  • Unified Teaching: Jesus unifies love for God and love for neighbor into a single teaching. This shows the interconnectedness of religious devotion and social ethics.

  • Responsorial Psalm – Psalm 18: I love you, Lord, for you are my strength, rock, and deliverer. Praised be the Lord; I am safe from enemies and blessed. You give victories and show kindness.
You followed our example and the Lord’s, receiving the word even in hardship. Your faith has become a model for believers far and wide, and you’ve turned from idols to serve God.
  • Gospel – Matthew 22:34-40: A scholar tests Jesus on the greatest commandment. Jesus says it’s to love God fully and the second is like it, love your neighbor as yourself. These sum up all law and prophets.

28th Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year A - October 15, 2023

Thank you sa mga dumalo na tunay na sumuporta at kumokonekta sa amin.

The readings for the 28th Sunday in Ordinary Time Year A tell of the abundance of the Kingdom of God. In the first reading we hear of the wonders of the Mountain of the Lord. The psalm tells of how God will care for us as a shepherd cares for his sheep. The second reading speaks of how God provides for us in abundance. And in the gospel Jesus compares the Kingdom of Heaven to a lavish wedding banquet.

Our songs theme must be centered on the following:

  • Kingdom as a Feast: The parable describes the Kingdom of Heaven as a wedding banquet thrown by a king. This theme visualizes the divine realm as a celebratory and communal event.
  • Invitation Rejected: Initially invited guests refuse the call, illustrating how some might reject or ignore divine invitations. This reflects the theme of human indifference or hostility to divine outreach.
  • Open Invitation: The king extends the invitation to everyone, both good and bad. This emphasizes God’s inclusivity and the universal nature of the divine call.
  • Unprepared Guest: A guest without a wedding robe faces consequences, suggesting that while the invitation is open, certain preparations or transformations are expected for full participation.

  • Responsorial Psalm – Psalm 23:  I shall live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life.
  • The LORD, as a caring shepherd, provides and protects. He leads in safety, offers comfort in danger, and honors in the presence of enemies. With the LORD’s enduring kindness, one finds eternal refuge in His house.
  • Second Reading – Philippians 4:12-14, 19-20: Paul expresses contentment in all situations, whether in scarcity or plenty. Through Christ’s strength, he remains resilient. He acknowledges the support of others and assures God’s provision for their needs, praising God eternally.
  • Gospel – Matthew 22:1-14 or 22:1-10: Jesus shares a parable about a king who hosts a wedding feast for his son. Initially, invited guests refuse the invitation. After facing consequences, the king invites all, but emphasizes the importance of being appropriately prepared. Few truly qualify.

26th Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year A - October 1, 2023

Baka matigil na po muna kami sa pag-a-update dito mga kapatid at di na kaya sa panahon pati sa budget at lumalaki na ang gastusin sa school. Anyway, maraming salamat pa rin po sa mga sumusuporta at nakasubaybay dito.

The readings for the 26th Sunday in Ordinary Time Year A focus on staying on the path of discipleship. When we do sin, we need to turn back to God. He will show us the way. It requires a humble heart to admit we have sinned and seek to get back on the right path. Christ is our model of obedience and humility.

Theme:
  • Parable of Two Sons: The parable of the two sons highlights the theme of obedience and response to God’s call. The contrast between the two sons’ initial reactions illustrates the importance of genuine actions over empty promises.
  • Repentance and Actions: The son who initially refused but later obeyed his father showcases the theme of repentance and transformation. This emphasizes the possibility of change and the significance of aligning one’s actions with God’s will.
  • Hypocrisy and Self-Deception: The theme of hypocrisy and self-deception is evident as Jesus contrasts verbal agreement with actual obedience. He challenges the religious leaders’ outward appearances that mask their lack of genuine response.
  • Tax Collectors and Prostitutes: Jesus’ reference to tax collectors and prostitutes entering the kingdom ahead of the religious leaders emphasizes the theme of unexpected redemption. This highlights God’s willingness to forgive and transform even those society deems less worthy.
  • Belief and Transformation: The parable’s focus on the son’s eventual change highlights the theme of belief leading to transformation. This emphasizes the importance of faith that results in authentic life changes.
  • Humble Acceptance of God’s Will: The son’s shift from rebellion to obedience showcases the theme of humbly accepting God’s will. This emphasizes the value of yielding to God’s plans rather than asserting our own desires.

  • Second reading – Philippians 2:1-11: Encouraged by Christ’s love, unity, and compassion, we’re urged to be of one mind, considering others above ourselves. Christ’s selflessness and humility serve as an example, leading to exaltation and acknowledgment of His lordship.

24th Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year A - September 17, 2023

Maawa naman kayo for the past 7 days $0.11 lang inabot ng ads... Hahahaha patulong naman by clicking the images of the ads. Still thank you for visiting us and helping us to sustain this blog.

The readings for the 24th Sunday in Ordinary Time for Year A focus on mercy and forgiveness. In the first reading we are told we must forgive each other for “wrath and anger are hateful things”. The psalm reminds us that God shows us mercy. The second reading tells us to live for Christ instead of ourselves. And in the gospel Jesus tells parables about mercy and tells Peter that we must forgive “seventy times seven” times.

Themes:
  • Boundless Forgiveness: In response to Peter, Jesus showcases the idea that forgiveness knows no bounds. He highlights the importance of unlimited forgiveness.
  • Mercy Illustrated: The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant draws a sharp contrast between the master’s mercy and the servant’s lack of it. This vividly shows the significance of being merciful to others.
  • Debt and Divine Mercy: The passage employs the concept of debt metaphorically to emphasize God’s immense forgiveness. It encourages us to contemplate this divine mercy.
  • Mutual Forgiveness: The parable’s principle of “forgive as you wish to be forgiven” highlights the link between our readiness to forgive and God’s forgiveness towards us.
  • Compassion vs. Judgment: The tension between the master’s compassion and eventual judgment underscores that our compassion towards others directly influences the mercy we receive from God.
  • Genuine Forgiveness: Jesus concludes by stressing heartfelt forgiveness. It goes beyond mere words and actions, demanding a true internal transformation. Forgiveness and letting go require substantial effort.
  • Spiritual Acts of Mercy: The themes of “Forgive Injuries” and “Bear Wrongs Patiently” align well with Matthew 18:21-35. Forgiving injuries connects with the parable’s message of limitless forgiveness, while enduring wrongs resonates with compassion and the balance between judgment and mercy.

Entrance:

2.      Pag-aalaala (Francisco) “inalipin” and “mahabagin” are so G.

  • First Reading – Sirach 27:30—28:7: Wrath and anger are condemned, while forgiveness of others is commended. Remember mortality and God’s commandments, setting aside enmity and overlooking faults.
  • Responsorial Psalm – Psalm 103: The Lord is kind and merciful, slow to anger, and rich in compassion.
  • Bless the Lord for his kindness and mercy. He pardons iniquities, heals ills, and redeems lives. His compassion is vast, putting transgressions far away from those who fear him.
  • Second Reading – Romans 14:7-9: Whether living or dying, we belong to the Lord. Christ’s death and resurrection affirm that he is Lord of both the living and the dead, and our lives should reflect that.
  • Gospel – Matthew 18:21-35: Jesus teaches about forgiveness using a parable of a servant forgiven a huge debt but who then refuses to forgive a smaller debt. The master, angry at this hypocrisy, punishes him. Jesus warns that we must forgive others wholeheartedly.

22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year A - September 3, 2023

We are very sorry for the late post, busy lang po sa school.

The readings for the 22nd Sunday in Ordinary Time Year A focus on our natural longing for God. In the first reading Jeremiah realizes he cannot escape his burning desire for God. The second reading tells us that we must allow ourselves to be transformed to be one with Christ. And in the gospel Jesus explains that following him means making sacrifices. Are we willing to do what it takes to be a disciple?

  • Unwavering Resolve: In the first reading, Jeremiah affirms his commitment to proclaiming God’s message despite the challenges. This theme reflects the determination to persevere in one’s calling, even in the face of adversity.
  • Living Sacrifice: The second reading encourages believers to present themselves as living sacrifices to God. This theme emphasizes the idea of offering one’s whole life in dedicated service to God.
  • Suffering Messiah: The gospel highlights Jesus’ prediction of His own suffering, death, and resurrection. This theme emphasizes the sacrificial aspect of His mission.
  • Human Ambitions vs. God’s Will: Jesus rebukes Peter for opposing His path of suffering. This theme underscores the contrast between human desires and God’s divine plan.
  • Self-Denial and Cross-Bearing: Jesus talks about taking up the cross to follow Him. This theme stresses the need for self-denial and a willingness to embrace difficulties for the sake of Christ.
  • Sacrificing Earthly Gain: Jesus mentions gaining the world but losing one’s soul. This theme highlights the importance of prioritizing eternal values over temporary worldly gains.

O God, I seek you with a thirst like dry, lifeless earth. I’ve seen your power and glory; your kindness is greater than life. My soul clings to you, and your right hand upholds me.
  • Second Reading – Romans 12:1-2: I urge you to offer yourselves as a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God. Don’t conform to this age but renew your mind to discern what is good and pleasing to God.

We would like to thank you our dear brothers and sisters in Christ for supporting and helping us sustain this blog.

The readings for the 13th Sunday in Ordinary Time encourage us to make our relationship with God first in all we do. The first reading recounts how a woman provided hospitality to Elisha and was rewarded for her generosity. The psalm reminds us that all the good things in our lives come from God. And in the gospel Jesus tells us that we must stop clinging to our own self-interests to follow him.
  • Discipleship and Priority: Jesus emphasizes the supreme importance of following Him wholeheartedly, even if it means putting Him above family relationships. He challenges His disciples to prioritize their commitment to Him above all else.

Reading 1                                             2 Kgs 4:8-11, 14-16a
One day Elisha came to Shunem,
where there was a woman of influence, who urged him to dine with her.
Afterward, whenever he passed by, he used to stop there to dine.
So she said to her husband, "I know that Elisha is a holy man of God.
Since he visits us often, let us arrange a little room on the roof
and furnish it for him with a bed, table, chair, and lamp,
so that when he comes to us he can stay there."
Sometime later Elisha arrived and stayed in the room overnight.

Later Elisha asked, "Can something be done for her?"
His servant Gehazi answered, "Yes!
She has no son, and her husband is getting on in years."
Elisha said, "Call her."
When the woman had been called and stood at the door,
Elisha promised, "This time next year
you will be fondling a baby son."

Responsorial Psalm                             Ps 89:2-3, 16-17, 18-19
R. (2a) For ever I will sing the goodness of the Lord.
The promises of the LORD I will sing forever,
through all generations my mouth shall proclaim your faithfulness.
For you have said, "My kindness is established forever;"
in heaven you have confirmed your faithfulness.
R. For ever I will sing the goodness of the Lord.
Blessed the people who know the joyful shout;
in the light of your countenance, O LORD, they walk.
At your name they rejoice all the day,
and through your justice they are exalted.
R. For ever I will sing the goodness of the Lord.
You are the splendor of their strength,
and by your favor our horn is exalted.
For to the LORD belongs our shield,
and to the Holy One of Israel, our king.
R. For ever I will sing the goodness of the Lord.

Reading 2                                   Rom 6:3-4, 8-11
Brothers and sisters:
Are you unaware that we who were baptized into Christ Jesus
were baptized into his death?
We were indeed buried with him through baptism into death,
so that, just as Christ was raised from the dead
by the glory of the Father,
we too might live in newness of life.

If, then, we have died with Christ,
we believe that we shall also live with him.
We know that Christ, raised from the dead, dies no more;
death no longer has power over him.
As to his death, he died to sin once and for all;
as to his life, he lives for God.
Consequently, you too must think of yourselves as dead to sin
and living for God in Christ Jesus.

Alleluia                                       1 Pt 2:9
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
You are a chosen race, a royal priesthood, a holy nation;
announce the praises of him who called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.

Gospel                                        Mt 10:37-42
Jesus said to his apostles:
"Whoever loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me,
and whoever loves son or daughter more than me is not worthy of me;
and whoever does not take up his cross
and follow after me is not worthy of me.
Whoever finds his life will lose it,
and whoever loses his life for my sake will find it.

"Whoever receives you receives me,
and whoever receives me receives the one who sent me.
Whoever receives a prophet because he is a prophet
will receive a prophet's reward,
and whoever receives a righteous man
because he is a righteous man
will receive a righteous man's reward.
And whoever gives only a cup of cold water
to one of these little ones to drink
because the little one is a disciple—
amen, I say to you, he will surely not lose his reward."
