Solemnity of the Christ the King - Year A - November 26, 2023

Thank you sa nagsend pala ng 50.00 pangload sa pocket wifi.

The readings for the Solemnity of Christ the King Year A tell us that the kingship of Christ is one of a caring master who longs for us to live together in harmony in his kingdom. The first reading tells of the Lord gathering in his flock and tending to them. The second reading reminds us that everything is subject to Jesus Christ, including death. And in the gospel Jesus tells of the Judgement of the Nations, where those who served him in this life are separated from those who did not.

Some themes for this Sunday:
  • Final Judgment: The gospel describes the final judgment of all nations, indicating a day of accountability for actions during earthly life.
  • Moral Responsibility: The criteria for judgment are based on acts of kindness or neglect, emphasizing the importance of moral and ethical conduct.
  • Corporal Works of Mercy: Feeding the hungry, visiting the sick, and clothing the naked are highlighted as virtuous deeds, stressing the spiritual value of compassion.
  • Identification with Suffering: Jesus says that acts done to “the least of these” are done to him, suggesting a deep spiritual connection between God and those who suffer.
  • Universality: The passage refers to “all the nations,” suggesting a universal scope for these spiritual principles.
  • Social Justice: The emphasis on helping the marginalized connects with themes of social justice and activism.

He’ll seek the lost, return the strayed, heal the sick, and bind the injured. He will also judge between the different kinds of sheep in his flock.
  • Responsorial Psalm – Psalm 23: The Lord is my shepherd; there is nothing I shall want.
The LORD is my shepherd who meets all my needs, guiding and sustaining me. I will dwell in his house forever, surrounded by his goodness and kindness.

33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year A - November 19, 2023

For the nth time, we are very sorry for not doing any updates last week here. We are so busy doing our part time jobs and school activities, hope you understand our situation dear brothers and sisters.

The readings for the 33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time Year A are a call to do the work of the Kingdom of God with the gifts we have been given. The first reading sings the praises of the worthy wife who uses her talents to labor for good. The psalm tells us that those who follow the Lord are blessed. The second reading reminds us that we are children of light and goodness. And in the gospel Jesus tells the parable of the talents and praises the servants who used their resources wisely.

Themes:
  • Stewardship: The passage emphasizes the importance of wisely managing resources or gifts given by God.
  • Accountability: Each servant in the parable is held accountable for how they use their talents, highlighting the theme of personal responsibility.
  • Risk and Growth: The servants who invest their talents are taking a risk, suggesting that spiritual growth often involves stepping out of one’s comfort zone.
  • Work Ethic: The servants who double their talents work hard, suggesting the value of effort and diligence in spiritual life.
  • Divine Judgment: The passage suggests that there will be a time of reckoning where each individual will be judged based on their actions.
  • Inequality: The talents are distributed unevenly at the start, which may prompt considerations about the spiritual implications of inequality.

2.      Diosnong Magtutudlo
3.      Pagmamahal sa Panginoon (Hontiveros)

Siguro dahil sa ang message ng song is about reforming ourselves expressed through changing the work of our hands, minds and hearts for the better, tapos naman ang message ng Lent is repentance and reform for the better, nag-stick. But really kahit hindi Lent maaari itong kantahin, for as long as the readings are about reform for the better, or more particularly, acknowledging the need for reform.

  • Gospel – Matthew 25:14-30: A man going on a journey entrusts his servants with different amounts of money. Themes for the 31st Sunday in Ordinary Time Year A
The readings for the 31st Sunday in Ordinary Time Year A are a call to humility and holiness. The first reading demands that we listen to God and love one another. The psalm reminds us to find our peace and rest in God. The second reading tells us that we work to proclaim the Good News. And in the gospel, Jesus calls out those who lay heavy laws on others but do not practice what they preach.

  • Practice vs. Preach: Jesus criticizes the religious leaders for not practicing what they preach. This theme highlights the importance of congruency between one’s words and actions in religious life.
  • Heavy Burdens: The religious authorities are blamed for laying heavy burdens on others while not lifting a finger themselves. This theme centers on the unjust imposition of religious obligations without personal commitment.
  • Humility over Titles: Jesus advises against using honorific titles like “Rabbi” and emphasizes the value of humility. This theme promotes a down-to-earth approach over seeking social or religious status.

30th Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year A - October 29, 2023

We are very sorry, brothers and sisters, for not posting last week because we were busy with activities and exams. We ran out of prepaid credits for our pocket wifi. But now, here we are again, continuing with this ministry.

The readings for the 30th Sunday in Ordinary Time Year A are a call to love. The first reading tells how we are to treat other people, especially the poor, oppressed, and marginalized. The second reading reminds us that how we live should show that we are followers of Jesus. And in the gospel Jesus gives us the Great Commandment and the Golden Rule.

Our theme this week:
  • Greatest Commandments: Asked about the greatest commandment, Jesus sums up the law with love for God and neighbor. This theme focuses on the core ethical guidelines in religious practice.
  • Test of Understanding: The Pharisees test Jesus, making this another episode where they try to entrap him. The theme here is the ongoing tension and challenges posed by religious authorities.
  • Unified Teaching: Jesus unifies love for God and love for neighbor into a single teaching. This shows the interconnectedness of religious devotion and social ethics.

  • Responsorial Psalm – Psalm 18: I love you, Lord, for you are my strength, rock, and deliverer. Praised be the Lord; I am safe from enemies and blessed. You give victories and show kindness.
You followed our example and the Lord’s, receiving the word even in hardship. Your faith has become a model for believers far and wide, and you’ve turned from idols to serve God.
  • Gospel – Matthew 22:34-40: A scholar tests Jesus on the greatest commandment. Jesus says it’s to love God fully and the second is like it, love your neighbor as yourself. These sum up all law and prophets.

25th Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year A - September 24, 2023

Hello and thank you our dear brothers and sisters for visiting us this week. Please do help us sustain this blog by clicking the ads shown.

The readings for the 25th Sunday in Ordinary Time Year A highlight God’s generosity. In the first reading we are told that God does not think the way we think. The psalm praises God’s compassion, justice, and mercy. The second reading reminds us that we must labor to imitate Christ. And in the gospel Jesus tells the parable about the workers in the vineyard and the generous landowner who paid them all the same wage.

Theme: (You can choose or add songs that is relevant or connected for the message of this week readings)

  • Fair Compensation: This theme revolves around the concept of fairness in compensation for work done. It explores the idea that equal effort should result in equitable rewards.
  • Generosity and Grace: The gospel presents the idea of showing generosity and grace even when it’s unexpected. This theme underlines the value of extending kindness to others without a fixed set of conditions.
  • Challenging Conventional Norms: The text challenges the conventional understanding of work and rewards. It emphasizes that sometimes, established norms should be reevaluated to ensure a just and compassionate society.
  • Equality of Worth: This theme highlights the inherent worth of all individuals, regardless of their contributions. It suggests that everyone deserves respect and consideration, irrespective of their roles.
  • Jealousy and Comparison: This theme delves into the issue of jealousy and the tendency to compare oneself with others. It reflects on how such feelings can arise when others receive equal treatment despite differing efforts.
  • Divine Perspective: The gospel offers a divine perspective on matters of compensation and worth. It suggests that human notions of fairness may differ from how God perceives these concepts.

Daily I’ll bless and praise You, O Lord, forever. Your greatness is beyond measure. You’re gracious, merciful, slow to anger, kind, and just. You’re near to all who call upon You.
  • Second Reading – Philippians 1:20C-24, 27A: In life or death, I magnify Christ. Life means fruitful labor. Caught between longing for departure to be with Christ and staying for your benefit. Live worthily of the gospel.
  • Gospel – Matthew 20:1-16A: The kingdom of heaven is like a landowner who hires laborers at different times. Those who worked only an hour received the same wage as those who worked all day. The landowner’s generosity teaches that God’s ways are not based on human standards of fairness.

24th Sunday in Ordinary Time - Year A - September 17, 2023

Maawa naman kayo for the past 7 days $0.11 lang inabot ng ads... Hahahaha patulong naman by clicking the images of the ads. Still thank you for visiting us and helping us to sustain this blog.

The readings for the 24th Sunday in Ordinary Time for Year A focus on mercy and forgiveness. In the first reading we are told we must forgive each other for “wrath and anger are hateful things”. The psalm reminds us that God shows us mercy. The second reading tells us to live for Christ instead of ourselves. And in the gospel Jesus tells parables about mercy and tells Peter that we must forgive “seventy times seven” times.

Themes:
  • Boundless Forgiveness: In response to Peter, Jesus showcases the idea that forgiveness knows no bounds. He highlights the importance of unlimited forgiveness.
  • Mercy Illustrated: The Parable of the Unforgiving Servant draws a sharp contrast between the master’s mercy and the servant’s lack of it. This vividly shows the significance of being merciful to others.
  • Debt and Divine Mercy: The passage employs the concept of debt metaphorically to emphasize God’s immense forgiveness. It encourages us to contemplate this divine mercy.
  • Mutual Forgiveness: The parable’s principle of “forgive as you wish to be forgiven” highlights the link between our readiness to forgive and God’s forgiveness towards us.
  • Compassion vs. Judgment: The tension between the master’s compassion and eventual judgment underscores that our compassion towards others directly influences the mercy we receive from God.
  • Genuine Forgiveness: Jesus concludes by stressing heartfelt forgiveness. It goes beyond mere words and actions, demanding a true internal transformation. Forgiveness and letting go require substantial effort.
  • Spiritual Acts of Mercy: The themes of “Forgive Injuries” and “Bear Wrongs Patiently” align well with Matthew 18:21-35. Forgiving injuries connects with the parable’s message of limitless forgiveness, while enduring wrongs resonates with compassion and the balance between judgment and mercy.

  • Responsorial Psalm – Psalm 103: The Lord is kind and merciful, slow to anger, and rich in compassion.
  • Bless the Lord for his kindness and mercy. He pardons iniquities, heals ills, and redeems lives. His compassion is vast, putting transgressions far away from those who fear him.
  • Second Reading – Romans 14:7-9: Whether living or dying, we belong to the Lord. Christ’s death and resurrection affirm that he is Lord of both the living and the dead, and our lives should reflect that.
  • Gospel – Matthew 18:21-35: Jesus teaches about forgiveness using a parable of a servant forgiven a huge debt but who then refuses to forgive a smaller debt. The master, angry at this hypocrisy, punishes him. Jesus warns that we must forgive others wholeheartedly.
