We would like to thank you our
dear brothers and sisters in Christ for supporting and helping us sustain this
blog.
The readings for the 13th Sunday
in Ordinary Time encourage us to make our relationship with God first in all we
do. The first reading recounts how a woman provided hospitality to Elisha and
was rewarded for her generosity. The psalm reminds us that all the good things
in our lives come from God. And in the gospel Jesus tells us that we must stop
clinging to our own self-interests to follow him.- Discipleship and Priority: Jesus
emphasizes the supreme importance of following Him wholeheartedly, even if
it means putting Him above family relationships. He challenges His
disciples to prioritize their commitment to Him above all else.
- Cost of Discipleship: Jesus acknowledges
that following Him may result in division and conflict within families,
highlighting the potential sacrifices and challenges that disciples may
face for their faith.
- Love for Jesus: Jesus calls His disciples
to love Him above all, indicating the depth of devotion and allegiance
required in discipleship.
- Taking Up the Cross: Jesus instructs His
disciples to take up their cross and follow Him, signifying the
willingness to bear the burdens and endure hardships that come with
following Christ.
- Hospitality and Reception: Jesus
encourages His disciples to show hospitality and receive others in His name,
emphasizing the importance of caring for and supporting fellow believers
and those who proclaim the message of the Gospel.
- Reward and Recognition: Jesus assures His
disciples that even the smallest acts of kindness and service done in His
name will not go unnoticed by God, promising a reward and recognition in
the kingdom of heaven.

Kgs 4:8-11, 14-16a
One day Elisha came to Shunem,
where there was a woman of
influence, who urged him to dine with her.
Afterward, whenever he passed by,
he used to stop there to dine.
So she said to her husband,
"I know that Elisha is a holy man of God.
Since he visits us often, let us
arrange a little room on the roof
and furnish it for him with a
bed, table, chair, and lamp,
so that when he comes to us he
can stay there."
Sometime later Elisha arrived and
stayed in the room overnight.
Later Elisha asked, "Can
something be done for her?"
His servant Gehazi answered,
"Yes!
She has no son, and her husband
is getting on in years."
Elisha said, "Call
her."
When the woman had been called
and stood at the door,
Elisha promised, "This time
next year
you will be fondling a baby
son."
Responsorial Psalm Ps 89:2-3, 16-17,
18-19
R. (2a) For ever I will sing
the goodness of the Lord.
The promises of the LORD I will
sing forever,
through all generations my mouth
shall proclaim your faithfulness.
For you have said, "My
kindness is established forever;"
in heaven you have confirmed your
faithfulness.
R. For ever I will sing the
goodness of the Lord.
Blessed the people who know the
joyful shout;
in the light of your countenance,
O LORD, they walk.
At your name they rejoice all the
day,
and through your justice they are
exalted.
R. For ever I will sing the
goodness of the Lord.
You are the splendor of their
strength,
and by your favor our horn is
exalted.
For to the LORD belongs our
shield,
and to the Holy One of Israel,
our king.
R. For ever I will sing the
goodness of the Lord.
Reading 2 Rom 6:3-4,

Brothers and sisters:
Are you unaware that we who were
baptized into Christ Jesus
were baptized into his death?
We were indeed buried with him
through baptism into death,
so that, just as Christ was
raised from the dead
by the glory of the Father,
we too might live in newness of
life.
If, then, we have died with
Christ,
we believe that we shall also
live with him.
We know that Christ, raised from
the dead, dies no more;
death no longer has power over
him.
As to his death, he died to sin
once and for all;
as to his life, he lives for God.
Consequently, you too must think
of yourselves as dead to sin
and living for God in Christ
Jesus.
Alleluia 1 Pt 2:9
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
You are a chosen race, a royal
priesthood, a holy nation;
announce the praises of him who
called you out of darkness into his wonderful light.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel Mt 10:37-42
Jesus said to his apostles:
"Whoever loves father or
mother more than me is not worthy of me,
and whoever loves son or daughter
more than me is not worthy of me;
and whoever does not take up his
cross
and follow after me is not worthy
of me.
Whoever finds his life will lose
it,
and whoever loses his life for my
sake will find it.
"Whoever receives you
receives me,
and whoever receives me receives
the one who sent me.
Whoever receives a prophet
because he is a prophet
will receive a prophet's reward,
and whoever receives a righteous
man
because he is a righteous man
will receive a righteous man's
reward.
And whoever gives only a cup of
cold water
to one of these little ones to
drink
because the little one is a
disciple—
amen, I say to you, he will
surely not lose his reward."

The
readings for the 12th Sunday in Ordinary Time Year A are a call to trust in
God. Although our circumstances can be unsettling or frightening, God is always
caring for us. The first reading Jeremiah trusts in the Lord even though he is
being plotted against. The psalm expresses hope that God will hear our prayers
in times of distress. The second reading reminds us that Jesus rescued us even
though we are sinners. And in the gospel, Jesus tells us “Fear no one” and that
we are loved and cared for by God.- Perseverance
in the face of opposition: The
first reading from Jeremiah portrays the challenges and opposition that
the prophet faced in fulfilling his calling. Despite the persecution,
Jeremiah remained steadfast in his faith and trust in God. This theme
encourages believers to persevere in their faith, even when confronted
with adversity or opposition.
- Trust
in God’s faithfulness: Jeremiah
exemplifies unwavering trust in God’s faithfulness and protection,
recognizing God as a “dread warrior.” This emphasizes reliance on God’s
strength during difficulties. The Gospel stresses trust in God’s providential
care, assuring disciples of His awareness and urging trust in His
guidance, care, and protection.
- Redemption
and salvation: The
second reading for the 12th Sunday in Ordinary Time Year A delves into the
concept of redemption and salvation. It discusses how sin entered the
world through Adam, leading to death and separation from God. However,
through the gift of Jesus Christ, redemption is offered, and believers can
be reconciled with God. This theme emphasizes the transformative power of
Christ’s sacrifice and the opportunity for new life and salvation.
- Fear
and courage: The
Gospel reading from Matthew addresses fear and courage in the context of
proclaiming the message of Christ. Jesus reassures His disciples not to
fear those who oppose them but to trust in God’s providence and
protection. This theme encourages believers to overcome fear and rely on
the courage that comes from faith in God.
- God’s
care for individuals: The Gospel reading further emphasizes the
value that God places on each individual. Jesus affirms that God’s care
extends even to the smallest details of His creation. This theme reminds
believers of their worth in God’s eyes and reassures them of His intimate
knowledge and care for them.

Jeremiah

"I

'Terror

Denounce!
let us denounce him!'
All
those who were my friends
are
on the watch for any misstep of mine.
'Perhaps

and
take our vengeance on him.'
But
the LORD is with me, like a mighty champion:
my
persecutors will stumble, they will not triumph.
In
their failure they will be put to utter shame,
to
lasting, unforgettable confusion.
O
LORD of hosts, you who test the just,
who

Through
one man sin entered the world,
and
through sin, death,
and
thus death came to all men, inasmuch as all sinned—
for
up to the time of the law, sin was in the world,
though
sin is not accounted when there is no law.
But
death reigned from Adam to Moses,
even
over those who did not sin
after
the pattern of the trespass of Adam,
who
is the type of the one who was to come.
But
the gift is not like the transgression.
For
if by the transgression of the one the many died,

What
I say to you in the darkness, speak in the light;

The
readings for 11th Sunday in Ordinary Time Year A call us to look for how God is
working in our lives. In the first reading the Israelites are reminded that God
led them out of Egypt. The psalm tells us that God cares for us. In the second
reading, Paul tells us that God proves His love for us because Christ died for
us. In the gospel, we hear how Jesus cared for the people and sent his
disciples to do the same.- God’s
love and compassion for humanity: The readings for the 11th Sunday in Ordinary
Time Year A emphasize God’s love for His people and His desire to save
them from sin and death. God’s love is demonstrated through His mercy and
grace towards His people, and through His sending of Jesus Christ to die
for our sins.
- The
importance of obedience to God’s commands and covenant: The first reading from
Exodus emphasizes the importance of obeying God’s commands and covenant to
receive His blessings and remain in a right relationship with Him. The
Israelites are reminded of their covenant with God and encouraged to
follow His laws to remain in His favor.
- The
role of Jesus Christ as the savior of humanity: The second reading
for the 11th Sunday in Ordinary Time Year A from Romans describes how
Jesus’ death and resurrection has made it possible for humanity to be
reconciled with God and receive the gift of eternal life. Through faith in
Jesus Christ, we can be saved from the power of sin and death.
- The
value of serving others with love and generosity: In the gospel for
the 11th Sunday in Ordinary Time Year A from Matthew, Jesus sends out His
disciples to serve others and proclaim the good news of the kingdom of
heaven. The disciples are instructed to freely give what they have
received, encouraging them to serve others with love and generosity.
- The
importance of proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of heaven: The passage from Matthew
emphasizes the importance of proclaiming the good news of the kingdom of
heaven. Jesus sends out His disciples to share the message of salvation
and reconciliation with others, calling them to repentance and faith in
God.

1 Ex 19:2-6a
In
those days, the Israelites came to the desert of Sinai and pitched camp.
While
Israel was encamped here in front of the mountain,
Moses
went up the mountain to God.
Then
the LORD called to him and said,
“Thus,
shall you say to the house of Jacob.
tell
the Israelites:
You

and
how I bore you up on eagle wings.
and
brought you here to myself.
Therefore,
if you hearken to my voice and keep my covenant,
you

though
all the earth is mine.
You

Brothers
and sisters:
Christ,
while we were still helpless,
yet
died at the appointed time for the ungodly.
Indeed,
only with difficulty does one die for a just person,
though
perhaps for a good person
one
might even find courage to die.
But
God proves his love for us
in
that while we were still sinners Christ died for us.
How
much more then, since we are now justified by his blood,
will
we be saved through him from the wrath.
Indeed,
if, while we were enemies,
we
were reconciled to God through the death of his Son,
how
much more, once reconciled,
will
we be saved by his life.
Not
only that,
but
we also boast of God through our Lord Jesus Christ,
through
whom we have now received reconciliation.

Gospel Matthew 9:36—10:8
At
the sight of the crowds, Jesus’ heart was moved with pity for them
because
they were troubled and abandoned,
like
sheep without a shepherd.
Then
he said to his disciples,
“The
harvest is abundant but the laborers are few;
so
ask the master of the harvest
to
send out laborers for his harvest.”
Then
he summoned his twelve disciples
and
gave them authority over unclean spirits
to
drive them out and to cure every disease and every illness.
The
names of the twelve apostles are these:
first,
Simon called Peter, and his brother Andrew;
James,
the son of Zebedee, and his brother John;
Philip
and Bartholomew, Thomas and Matthew the tax collector;
James,
the son of Alphaeus, and Thaddeus;
Simon
from Cana, and Judas Iscariot who betrayed him.
Jesus
sent out these twelve after instructing them thus,
“Do
not go into pagan territory or enter a Samaritan town.
Go
rather to the lost sheep of the house of Israel.
As
you go, make this proclamation: ‘The kingdom of heaven is at hand.’
Cure

Hello. Thank you for always

The readings for Corpus Christi
Year A focus on the Eucharist. We are reminded that God cared for the Israelites
by providing manna. By receiving Holy Communion, we are spiritually fed and
united in each other. And in the Gospel of John, Jesus makes it clear that the
Eucharist is truly His body and blood, and gives us life.- Remembering God’s blessings: In the first
reading for Corpus Christi Year A, the Israelites are reminded to remember
how God led them through the wilderness and provided for them. This is a
warning against forgetting God’s goodness and becoming prideful in our own
abilities and possessions. We are called to recognize that all that we
have comes from God, and we must be grateful for His provision.
- Trusting in God’s word: The passage from
Deuteronomy also emphasizes the importance of trusting in God’s word
rather than material things. This is a call to focus on the spiritual
rather than the material, recognizing that our true sustenance comes from
God’s word. We must rely on God and His promises, rather than placing our
trust in material things that will ultimately fade away.
- The Eucharist as a sacrament of unity: The
second reading for Corpus Christi Year A describes the Eucharist as a
sacrament that creates a spiritual unity among believers. Through
partaking in the bread and wine that represent the body and blood of
Christ, we become united as one body of Christ. This is a reminder of the
importance of community and the role that the Eucharist plays in creating
a sense of belonging among believers.
- The true presence of Christ in the
Eucharist: The belief in the true presence of Christ in the bread
and wine of the Eucharist is a central teaching of the Catholic Church.
The second reading emphasizes that the bread and wine are not merely
symbols, but are the body and blood of Christ. This belief is foundational
to the Catholic faith, and is a reminder of the depth of Christ’s
sacrifice for us.
- The necessity of the Eucharist for eternal
life: The Gospel reading from John emphasizes the necessity of
consuming the body and blood of Christ for eternal life. Jesus teaches
that His flesh and blood are true food and true drink, and those who eat
and drink them will abide in Him and have eternal life. This is a reminder
of the centrality of the Eucharist to the Catholic faith, and the
importance of receiving the sacrament for our spiritual nourishment and growth.

"Remember how for forty years now the LORD, your God,
has directed all your journeying in the desert,
so as to test you by affliction
and find out whether or not it was your intention
to keep his commandments.
He therefore let you be afflicted with hunger,
and then fed you with manna,
a food unknown to you and your fathers,
in order to show you that not by bread alone does one live,
but by every word that comes forth from the mouth of the LORD.
"Do not forget the LORD, your God,
who brought you out of the land of Egypt,
that place of slavery;
who guided you through the vast and terrible desert
with its saraph serpents and scorpions,
its parched and waterless ground;
who brought forth water for you from the flinty rock
and fed you in the desert with manna,
a food unknown to your fathers."

Reading 2 1 Cor 10:16-17
Brothers and sisters:
The cup of blessing that we bless,
is it not a participation in the blood of Christ?
The bread that we break,
is it not a participation in the body of Christ?
Because the loaf of bread is one,
we, though many, are one body,
for we all partake of the one loaf.
Sequence — Lauda Sion
Laud, O Zion, your salvation,
Laud with hymns of exultation,
Christ, your king and shepherd true:
Bring him all the praise you know,
He is more than you bestow.
Never can you reach his due.
Special theme for glad thanksgiving
Is the quick'ning and the living
Bread today before you set:
From his hands of old partaken,
As we know, by faith unshaken,
Where the Twelve at supper met.
Full and clear ring out your chanting,
Joy nor sweetest grace be wanting,
From your heart let praises burst:
For today the feast is holden,
When the institution olden
Of that supper was rehearsed.
Here the new law's new oblation,
By the new king's revelation,
Ends the form of ancient rite:
Now the new the old effaces,
Truth away the shadow chases,
Light dispels the gloom of night.
What he did at supper seated,
Christ ordained to be repeated,
His memorial ne'er to cease:
And his rule for guidance taking,
Bread and wine we hallow, making
Thus our sacrifice of peace.
This the truth each Christian learns,
Bread into his flesh he turns,
To his precious blood the wine:
Sight has fail'd, nor thought conceives,
But a dauntless faith believes,
Resting on a pow'r divine.
Here beneath these signs are hidden
Priceless things to sense forbidden;
Signs, not things are all we see:
Blood is poured and flesh is broken,
Yet in either wondrous token
Christ entire we know to be.
Whoso of this food partakes,
Does not rend the Lord nor breaks;
Christ is whole to all that taste:
Thousands are, as one, receivers,
One, as thousands of believers,
Eats of him who cannot waste.
Bad and good the feast are sharing,
Of what divers dooms preparing,
Endless death, or endless life.
Life to these, to those damnation,
See how like participation
Is with unlike issues rife.
When the sacrament is broken,
Doubt not, but believe 'tis spoken,
That each sever'd outward token
doth the very whole contain.
Nought the precious gift divides,
Breaking but the sign betides
Jesus still the same abides,
still unbroken does remain.
The shorter form of the sequence begins here.
Lo! the angel's food is given
To the pilgrim who has striven;
see the children's bread from heaven,
which on dogs may not be spent.
Truth the ancient types fulfilling,
Isaac bound, a victim willing,
Paschal lamb, its lifeblood spilling,
manna to the fathers sent.
Very bread, good shepherd, tend us,
Jesu, of your love befriend us,
You refresh us, you defend us,
Your eternal goodness send us
In the land of life to see.
You who all things can and know,
Who on earth such food bestow,
Grant us with your saints, though lowest,
Where the heav'nly feast you show,
Fellow heirs and guests to be. Amen. Alleluia.
Alleluia Jn 6:51
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
I am the living bread that came down from heaven, says the Lord;
whoever eats this bread will live forever.
R. Alleluia, alleluia.
Gospel Jn 6:51-58
Jesus said to the Jewish crowds:
"I am the living bread that came down from heaven;
whoever eats this bread will live forever;
and the bread that I will give
is my flesh for the life of the world."
The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying,
"How can this man give us his flesh to eat?"
Jesus said to them,
"Amen, amen, I say to you,
unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood,
you do not have life within you.
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood
has eternal life,
and I will raise him on the last day.
For my flesh is true food,
and my blood is true drink.
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood
remains in me and I in him.
Just as the living Father sent me
and I have life because of the Father,
so also the one who feeds on me
will have life because of me.
This is the bread that came down from heaven.
Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died,
whoever eats this bread will live forever."

Trinity Sunday Year
A focuses on God as community. God is the Lover (Father), the Beloved (Son),
and the Love which flows between them (Holy Spirit). The love of the Trinity
makes God completely one.- Unity: The doctrine of the Holy Trinity teaches that there is one God
who exists eternally in three persons: the Father, the Son, and the Holy
Spirit. This unity of the Godhead is a mystery that surpasses human
understanding but is essential to the Christian faith.
- Love and Grace: The love and grace that flow from the
unity of the Holy Trinity are the very foundation of Christian faith and
life. God the Father’s love is demonstrated in sending His Son to redeem
us from sin, and the Holy Spirit’s grace is poured out to us as a result
of Christ’s sacrifice.
- Implications: The doctrine of the Holy Trinity has
important implications for Christian faith and life. It reminds us that
God is relational and that we are called to live in loving relationships
with Him and with others. It also reminds us that our salvation is a gift
of God’s love and grace, not something we can earn or deserve.
- Mystery: While the doctrine of the Holy Trinity
is foundational to Christian faith, it is also a mystery that surpasses
human understanding. We can only grasp the mystery of the Trinity in part,
but we trust in the love and grace of God revealed to us in the Father,
Son, and Holy Spirit.

Reading 1 Ex 34:4b-6, 8-9
Early in the morning
Moses went up Mount Sinai
as the LORD had commanded him,
taking along the two stone tablets.
Having come down in a cloud, the LORD stood with Moses there
and proclaimed his name, "LORD."
Thus the LORD passed before him and cried out,
"The LORD, the LORD, a merciful and gracious God,
slow to anger and rich in kindness and fidelity."
Moses at once bowed down to the ground in worship.
Then he said, "If I find favor with you, O Lord,
do come along in our company.
This is indeed a stiff-necked people; yet pardon our wickedness and sins,
and receive us as your own."

Gospel Jn 3:16-18
God so loved the
world that he gave his only Son,
so that everyone who believes in him might not perish
but might have eternal life.
For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world,
but that the world might be saved through him.
Whoever believes in him will not be condemned,
but whoever does not believe has already been condemned,
because he has not believed in the name of the only Son of God.
